7 Keys to Success

Achieving success is a quest that can be elusive for some but seem easy for others.  What is it that makes a person successful?  Why is it that for some no matter what they attempt to do things never seem to work out for them?  I know right a little depressing huh?

Well it doesn’t have to be and I think I have some pretty solid reasons why.  I like to call these reasons the “Keys to My Success”  So far I’ve found seven different actions that when I’m true to them almost always seem to work out in my favor.  As a student of successful people  I’ve identified these qualities and behaviors and found them time and time again not just in the things I do but in others like David Siteman Garland, Gary Vaynerchuk, Chris Brogan and more.

These guys always follow this plan and it seems to be a part of their DNA which may explain why they are so massively successful at such a young age.  Okay so let’s get to it here are the 7 Keys to success.

The 7 Keys to Success

  1. Do what you do best – You would think this would be a no brainer but sadly it’s not.  How many times have you gotten involved in an activity or business that you had no idea how to approach?  Have you ever tried to do something just for the money and not really because you were good at it?  Everyone and I mean everyone has some talent inside that’s waiting to come out.  Look into yourself and don’t be afraid to do what you are best at.
  2. Do what you Love – Again not complicated or secret but if you are not passionate about your business and really have a love for it you won’t do well at it.  The activity becomes a job and you simply end up trading one bad situation for another.  Follow your passion and do what you love.
  3. Prepare – Love is great and all but don’t be jaded and think that because you really love something and you are good at doing that thing it’s going to be work it’s self out.  It’s like school people if you don’t do your homework you are going to fail.  Do the groundwork  and find out everything about your area of interest.  For example Gary Vaynerchuck is a great example of really diving into his passion.  Do you know that Gary has eaten grass and put rocks in his mouth to understand grassy notes in wine and the mineral taste of stone.  Now that what I can preparing!  Know your stuff and learn as much as you can about your field.
  4. Action – Start doing your thing!  Don’t get stuck in “analysis paralysis”  and actually start doing what it is you say you want to do.  Nothing is worse than getting stuck in a perpetual research cycle of getting ready to start your business.  Prepare but then take action toward those goals.
  5. Relate – People just don’t buy product anymore they invest in relationships.  If you have a product or service people will buy it but if you want to build a lifelong following of fans then connect with them and learn to relate to them on some level that doesn’t have to just do with business.  You don’t have to be buddy buddy but you do have to be human and show an interest in the people that you are asking to by for you.
  6. Follow – Don’t reinvent the wheel.  Follow those that have come before you and do what they did to be successful.  There’s nothing wrong with using others knowledge to make gains in business.  I’m not saying copy them entirely but taking advise and not making the same mistakes is something you need to do.
  7. Growth – Know when it’s time to get help.  Trying to do everything yourself can be overwhelming and get you off focus from actually working on “Your Business.”  Too often entrepreneur’s will try to code their own websites, Photoshop images and marketing the site. Whew!  That’s just too much and if you don’t have business partners consider hiring a personal assistant.  Virtual Assistants (VA’s) are affordable and can free your time to work on the most important part of your business, working on earning business.

There are the seven things I’ve seen and used in achieving success in business and in life.  So lets take this post a step further and use it as a call to action.   Take just one of the things on the list above that you may not be doing and apply it to your business starting today.  Then let me know how did it work out and if you have seen any changes in your business or online endeavors.   As always if you like this article  let us know by clicking the like button.
